Blog link works - thanks Neil.

Love the comment "Pat's hand luggage was full of enough underwear and drugs to last a few weeks" - is that really something you want to say going through customs?!

Today i cant sit down.

Yesterday we went to the offices of Grimaldi who are our shipping agent here in Uruguay.

We have always been aware that the trucks arrival would incur costs.

However,

It would appear that it will cost me about 600 us dollars for someone to drive my truck off the ship and park it in a car park.

It will also cost me about another 250 US dollars for someone to do some admin to make this happen.

In addition its an extra 70 us dollars for them to print the forms that they have to complete for their admin.( printing osnt included in the 250 )

I was well and truly bent over and shafted.

We havent yet spoken to customs regarding import duty and taxes. Which I think will be another 600 dollars.

Ouch that hurts

Neil

Blimey they know how to take the pxxs and give you a warm welcome! Don't let it spoil the next few days. Life's too short and at least it got there ok :-)
Best wishes and enjoying following your travels.

Neil, I realise the language and cultural differences but if you could find a 'fixer' around the docks you might find a way to ease the burden a bit. Bunging someone a few USD to help might work to your advantage. No harm in trying while you wait.

Hi Steve

Yes we have one already,

He is taking care of the second part of the procedure which is import tax, temporary impermanence and other government forms and pro desires etc. He has easily earned his modest fee.

These few are completely non negotiable with Grimaldi and have to be paid before the fixer can do his bit.

I know that in 3 months time we won't even remember them but they just caught us by surprise.

It is what it is

Thanks

Neil
