Left the house at 7am yesterday and have just arrived in Montevideo,Uruguay.

It has been a very long journey and we are both knackered so will probably crash out until tomorrow.

One observation driving from the airport was there are a lot of old trucks out here still earning a living. Saw several old 911 Mercs and an old MAN and even a Bedford MJ.

Think I am going to like it here.

Thanks for all the kind well wishes, we really appreciated them

Neil

Well we have been in Montevideo Uruguay for nearly a week now and so far so good.
The journey, although long , was uneventful . Montevideo us a very European feel about it, you could easily imagine yourself in a Spanish or Portuguese city.

It is howver, bloody expensive. Dearer than at home.

We are staying in an airbnb whilst our truck is shipped. It's a nice house and we get humming birds in the garden at breakfast time.
Spanish school is tough. Its total immersion, ie no English is spoken.

We have about another month until the truck arrives so we should know a little bit by then.

Our German friends Ellen and Perry ( www.innowan.de ) are just shipping from South Africa and should join us in a few weeks which will be great. We have rented an apartment for this time.
There are some fantastic old vehicles and trucks here still going strong . There are also some new models I have never seen. A very common one is a big VW truck ( maybe 10 ton ) it has a front like the VW / MAN but bigger. There are all some really old Landcrusers ( 1970 / 80 ) which I love.

Not much else to report

Adios amigos

Neil
