Hi Guys . I hope you are all safe and well.

In the current circumstances and on the near insistent advice from the British Embassy in Bogota we have given up our journey for now.

The truck has been abandoned in Medellin and we have had a bit of a nightmare journey home.

I am writing this post from Charles de Gaule airport, but should be back in the UK over night.

Colombia entered a total lockdown which made life hard.

They are very scared and started to see foreigners with slightly ugly eyes.

They will not have anywhere near the medical facilities needed with what is to come. When you have 4 generations living in a small house or even 2 room, self isolation is impossible.

Covid 19 is now in Colombia and it will fly through South America without mercy.

We were very sad to leave. Colombia is a fantastic country with wonderful people.

I fear it will be many months before we can consider returning.

Stay safe and buckle up.

Neil

Blimey you two! I am so glad you are both out of there, albeit very sad circumstances.

I trust you have somewhere to go when back in the UK? I still have a big tent, but no where to park it this time!

Please feel free to contact me if there is anything I can do to help you both! You are both top people, so it will be my pleasure!

Much love,

B.

It's such a relief to hear you're ok. I was very worried. Definitely the best decision i think. Hope the truck remains safe but more important that you're both ok.
Take care

Agreed, definitely wise, N & P. I've been aware UK Gov advice has been to repatriate for some good while now and I think - on balance - they've called it right and that you've done the right thing. Hope you're safe and well and that you can return with renewed vigour asap.

More generally, we're all having to re-assess our temporarily enforced position in Maslow's hierarchy and I can see a time when many will reflect on this as something of a time of enlightenment.

We should, anyway...

That must have been a difficult call to make.
At least you're now in more familiar surroundings, we'll all just have to keep our heads down and do what we can to stay as safe as we can.
