Just for you Steve.

Saw loads. ( Andean Condors ) Adults and Juvenilles. Really Chuffed.

Wing spans of over 3 meters.

Colca Canyon Peru is definately the place to see them

Following on from the last two entries ( that Steve hasn't seen ) I ahve now uploaded a new blog entry about our stay in Colca canyon and Arequipa Peru.

http://www.cloud9ontour.com

We are now heading for the Pacific Coast. we hope to catch the Dakar race there but the route appears to be a big secret.

The Overland forums are buzzing with best guesses as to where you might catch a glimpse of the race.

It would appear that the Dakar organisers publish the exact route on their web site the day before.

This will be really handy when your in the midd;e of a desert the size of Norfolk with no internet access. They have absolutely no interest in Spectators as they don't earn money from them.

A rough route is available on their site but some of the areas they cover are really huge. You could be only 1 km out in the dunes and miss the whole race.

Bearing in mind that the race is supposed to be coming to the Arequia region in 5 days , we went to "iperu" the national tourist office and they werent even aware that that the race was even in Peru.

They dont make it easy but we will at least try.

Hope you enjoy the blog and Happy New Year to you all

Neil

What a fantastic experience it must have been seeing them all if full-flight.
The trucks really are impressive are they not !

The Eurosport coverage is as cr*p as usual, with sketchy coverage and lots of irrelevant content and comment.

On my bucket list for sure.

Great pictures guys and it must've been another awesome experience.

Unfortunately, like Lazz says, the Dakar coverage on Eurosport gets worse every year. Only half an hour of mostly pointless promo shots. They even miss the trucks out entirely on a regular basis.
There are plenty of spectator compositions on Youtube though 8-)
