Hi all.

Postby Jay1shrek » Mon Aug 27, 2018 7:10 am

Morning, my name is Jason, I am in the process of buying myself a Leyland daf t244 to convert.
The truck I am buying is down plated to 7.5 ton already. I would like to build a torsion free chassis and the box myself but unfortunately I am currently living in Margate where workshop space is hard to come by at a good price.
When I finally pick the truck up in 3 weeks time the hunt for an affordable space to work on it will begin.

I dare say there might be some brain picking going on in the future.

Cheers
Jason

Hi Jason, welcome!
Plenty of T244 knowledge here, and a few builds as well.
If you haven't already, I suggest a copy of "Build your own Overland Camper" by Steve, aka Crinklystarfish. It's a mine of info and quite thought-provoking

Hi Jason and a very warm welcome to our little group.

This is the best group out there for this sort of build, some very clever people that never look down on anyone, no matter what the question!

Have you come across the meet in September yet? The Adventure Overland Show mentioned in another thread? Try and get there is you can and all will be revealed!

Welcome aboard,

Brian.

Hi Jason.

Welcome to the group.

We are differentvto other forums in that we actually all like each other. No bickering or squabbling here.

Its a great place forcadvice. In fact I dont think you will find more information on DAF conversions anywhere.

I must re inforce Brians suggestion of getting to The Adventure Overland Show next month.

Doesnt matter if you have a tent, truck, caravan or car you wil be very welcome and here you will see first hand all the great things and mistakes we have all made.

Once again welcome and do not be afraid to ask anything . There is no such thing as a stupid question here.

Good luck with your project.

Neil

Thanks for the warm welcome to the site.
I'm not so sure I will be able to make the Adventure Overland Show due to draining my coffers buying the daf and having to mot the horsebox I live in around that time of the year.
Maybe the next one will have to be pencilled in on the to do list.

Cheers
Jason
