Just Saying Hi

Postby Big Monkey » Thu Apr 05, 2018 1:06 pm

Hi Folks,

I'm reasonably new to the forum, but have been looking at overland vehicles for some time. A month ago myself and my good lady took the plunge and bought a Leyland Daf T244 with the intention of building a big camper.

After the Stratford and Bad Kissingen AO shows, we should have a firm plan.

As and when we make progress we will post up some build photos etc.

Welcome aboard and good luck with the build. Plenty of people with experience of bigger trucks on here to help out or give advice. 8-)

Cheers Phil,

I'm looking forward to seeing your truck at the Stratford OA show.

My Mum's side of the family are all from Bolton BTW.

Hello buddy and a big welcome!

You will find loads of info here, not only on DAF's but other superb vehicles, but most importantly, an GREAT bunch of people! (apart from Phil!)

Have you got a copy of Steve (Crinleystarfish)'s book?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Overland-Campe ... XY5Q06GQW9

Worth every penny!

I will not be at the AO show this April, but will hope to be at the AO show in September so if you go to the April show you will not regret it, just watch out for Clive's Border Collie, it does not like people!

Where are you based?

Brian.

Hi Brian, Neil and Pat,

I'm also known as Darren, but I thought that was a bit dull for a forum name.

You've both built fantastic trucks. There are five blogs / websites, that had a big influence on us and have been a great help. Yours were among them (plus Phil's and Steve's). The final one was David Deere in Oz.

Yup, I've got Steve's excellent book.

Brian, it's a pity you are not at the AO show at the end of the month. It would have been great to look at your truck and take some advice. Myself and the good lady are still at the planning stage.

We are based just outside Leamington Spa, so very close to the show.

A belated welcome from me as well, I'm also at the planning and parts gathering stage as well.
