Off to Japan

Postby Mark farrell » Sun Aug 06, 2017 10:37 am

Hi all you overlanders
Bought this Pulse Ambulance last year and converting to campervan for our Overland trip to Japan in 2019 in time for Rugby World Cup ! And no we are not leaving just yet in case she breaks down ! before any of you landcruiser nuts feel the need to comment on land rovers legendary reliability! Her name is Amber and so far so good !Any one doing similar?

R-reg - that's a late 300tdi, right? I think the td5s came in the year after?

My 101 has an international engines 2.8 (300tdi clone) but, possibly, in hindsight, for expedition use, a 300tdi would have been a better choice.

(at the time, however, a brand new, in crate, 2.8 was only about double the cost of a used 300 tdi - this was around the turn of the century)

There's a facebook group - landrover campers. Most there seem to have standard 110s (ie station wagons etc) - but, if youre not a member, it might still be worth signing up.

(i have a 110, as well as the 101, but its been in bits for about the past year...)

Sounds like an exciting trip. I'm thinking of going to Japan next year with my family.
