Neil and Phil, you're both making good points about following the route known to work, and the more complicated the concept, the easier it would be to get it wrong.
I'm some distance from committing to a plan and bearing in mind my use will be mainly road based simpler may well be better.

We'd need Martin (Goose) back to talk us through this but it looks to me that - unless there's more hardware to be added to this design or I'm not seeing it right - that all the trunnions pivot fore/aft.

Unless there's something obvious I'm overlooking it's hard to imagine this is the finished design.
