A template of a camel and a palm tree with the word 'sunsearcher' for example, filled in with chalk (water will sort that) or whiteboard marker (alcohol based product will sort that) and a poor quality camera maybe

I like the camel and palm great idea. Mountains and and compasses are also popular on overland trucks.

Given the current climate I think as well as 'This Vehicle is a Motorcaravan' stickers I'd just copy some graphics from a newly-registered random C-Class conventional motorcaravan and then send a picture of that very van along with my application and supporting 'evidence'.

If they've 'approved' the graphic design for a known motorcaravan it would make it harder for them to continue to refuse on grounds of external appearance.

Sounds like a sensible plan. If all the other boxes are ticked, awning, windows etc, you would think that it would be very difficult for the DVLA to turn down an application.

With the help of Big Monkey and his better half, who took my very rough sketches and did a very good job of turning them into a set of printable images, I have come up with a set of decals.
I am not sure if i will have the lettering as shown or just saying "overland" or maybe go for full sarcasm and have "overland motorhome" !
I have found some one local who will print them up in 3M and stick them on if i want him too or just supply them if i want to do it. Just need to wait for the weather to warm up a bit.
So hopefully once they are on and the awning bar fitted DVLA will have no further objections and things will be back on track to have the truck on the road by July...ready for a couple of trips.
