Excellent !
That's a big result - justification for NFU cover not always being cheapest.

Excellent news! It just shows what insurance companies can do when they actually care!

Top marks for the NFU! I am also with the NFU and if they carry on like this, I can see I always will be!

A good result for you then, have a good (work) trip and then it is just pure pleasure from there on with the truck!

I spoke to DVLA today the accident marker has been completely removed. But my application to change it to a motor home now has to go before a panel of “experts”. I asked the person I was talking to “ If you look at the photos I supplied how can it be anything but a motor home” they replied “ I know but the “experts” have to decide...and they can be a bit funny at times”......so just waiting to see what the “experts” decide!
At least its not been crushed!!!!

Well, looking at the positive there re the write-off rating - which is good news. Hope the "experts" see sense now... good luck.

Imagine! You can get paid to be an "expert" motorhome identifier. I think I've found my calling. Though presumably anyone with eyes over the age of 2 would qualify for this job.

No reply from the "experts" yet but I have received a letter from DVLA saying they cant process my request because I havent sent the correct payment and they have sent a V85 form asking me to complete and return , with the correct payment stating if i want 6 or 12 months tax.
Seems strange since i havent received a V5c yet and it hasnt been for an MOT.
Dont know if i should just ask for 12 months tax or call them asking what is happening
The mysterious ways of DVLA!!!

It looks promising, probably best just to do what they ask...

As I half expected you are looking at the latest private HGV box body van on the DVLA register.
I am not sure what I am going to do next...fit side bars and get it plated or appeal against the decision. My only worry about taking this path is that it clearly isnt a box body van, anyone can see that and if it says this on the logbook will there be problems when crossing borders in far off places in the future? Unlikely but who knows.
Or do I appeal against it and if I appeal against it I suppose I will have meet the new motorhome criteria and fit a awning rail and some motorhome style graphics. I dont mind doing this it it gets it reclassified but there is no guarantee.
I suppose the first step is to contact DVLA and find out the reason that they dont see it as a motorhome. Since I am working in Hong Kong until Christmas anything that happens is going to be long winded and a drawn out affair.
