Re: T244 with a ZF S6-36/2 Speed Gearbox
Guy on the land rover/Cummins Facebook group is practically giving away a ZF 6 speed gearbox with clutch and flywheel. Talking about £50! Definitely punt territory for someone on here. He wants to fit a 5 speed and got this with the truck he bought as an engine donor.

Re: T244 with a ZF S6-36/2 Speed Gearbox
questions
(1) how long is the new prop shaft and what is the new UJ called (if it has one )
(2) the clutch servo if you are changing gearbox and housing what is the reason you don't use the slave servo that fits the gearbox it would save a Lott of hassle
(3 )the gear change if you have a right handed one why not change the daf linkage to come down the other side or use the one from the the vehicle you got the gearbox from
advise
i have the s6 36/2 gearbox but its the variant that doesn't have the rear engine mount
looking at unbolting and fitting to the t244 bell-housing or getting the bell-housing with the rear mount thoughts ???
thanks in advance

Re: T244 with a ZF S6-36/2 Speed Gearbox
1.
The length is not decisive, the flanging changes from claw to ring gear
2.
The clutch bell of the Spicer gearbox does not fit on the ZF gearbox without adapter plate.
no one has tried that ... if the bell would fit one to one that would be absolutely no problem and every second T244 would go with a 6-speed transmission ...
3.
same game ... does not fit on the ZF gear
The conversion of the shift gate works even if the transmission of a RHD comes.
Must then be done with deflection ... consuming but feasible ...
this will not work without the wings of the clutch bell to attach the gearbox to the main frame!
Find a suitable clutch bell from a similar ZF gear and remount this

make absolute no sence!
6th gear 1:1
Re: T244 with a ZF S6-36/2 Speed Gearbox
A very good point Tom! It would be an awful lot of bother for just another intermediate gear

Thanks for the reply tom going to look at the cost of an adaptor plate v new bell housing just to save changes to the slave clutch cylinder it maybe the way to go
I have the gear linkage for the offside so i will use that
So it's just a UJ change not the length of the drive Shaft brill

you will not find an adapter plate ...
look for a matching clutch bell and exchange them
The conversion of the clutch slave cylinder is absolutely necessary
