Devils Pit off road

Postby Rusape » Mon Feb 17, 2020 9:56 pm

Guys/Gals,

I will be hiring Devils Pit exclusively in early part of the year, to test the truck and put it through its paces and testing various bits of kit.

Is there any interest in the forum from members who may want to come along and test/renew their off road driving skills?

I am not sure of the dates just yet, but will revert once I have confirmed details.

if so add you name to this post

Could be as good a time as any to have the gathering that now seems fairly unattractive at the AO show.

I'd be a 'possible' if dates work out OK.

If you could ensure the course is clean, dry and mud free, Brian might even attend.

If this was going to morph into an AO meeting replacement I'd be a possible too, though only as a spectator.

Not sure this could quite described in the same vein as the AO gathering.

I will have use of the facility for the day and as I'm there if anyone else would like to use their vehicle on the course (all at your own risk of course) then I'm happy to open the invitation.

Can't g'tee its going to dry, clean and mud-free though, so sorry Brian can't help you there!
I believe there are catering facilities, although can't comment on what they are. There is also a jet wash station on site if anyone really wants to plough their truck through mud.

It is not the getting dirty that I do not like, it is the washing afterwards that I don't like then putting it away in the barn..... what I really really hate is the grime you get off the roads this time of the year! 'Orid!

Depending on the timings I would definitely be up for it! Will there be any heavy metal to extract me if I do get really stuck? I still do not know the limits of a T244, I think it is quite good, but I would only feel safe testing it in controlled circumstances as my truck is now my only form of residence.... loose that and I an in a bit of a mess.....

Is there a possibility or making it a 2 day "event" it would be good to meet up with everyone again!

Good one Lazz.

Didn't mean to imply any formal organisation, or to try to put upon anyone at the venue to accommodate a meeting or anything - just thought if a few trucks were there there'd be some opportunity for a catch up.

Very informal, and I think it's generous of Rusape to offer to share. I'd only be watching as I don't care how dry or clean the course is, it's no place for a fwd van :D

Laurence this is a very generous offer, I am struggling to commit to specific dates at the moment but if I can I would love to attend.

Just realised, Lazz - does that mean the truck is done (subject to testing)? Good job mate - I appreciate this has been a long and difficult road.
