Metal Fabricator

Postby steffUK » Sun Mar 13, 2016 5:17 pm

Just in case anyone is looking for a great metal fabricator, http://www.metallicsuk.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/metallicsuk/?fref=nf

Neil and Pat had stuff done there and Richard also did our external storage box. Great guy, great company, delivered on time, on budget and outstanding quality.

Just thought I write something positive instead of my usual moaning :-)

cheers
Stefan

Thanks Stefan, they are already in my bookmarks for when I can afford to get things made.

I can concur with Steff.

I used metals uk for my lockers, both fuel tanks and brackets and a few other bits and pieces.

Excellent quality and service and a really nice guy to deal with.

This surprises me as my experience was the exact opposite.

I found his prices to be were very competitive , it was by far the best quote I got for fuel tanks, lockers, tank brackets and some boxing in.

Maybe you got him on a bad day

I have just looked up the costs

one 300 lt bespoke fuel tank
filler neck
lockable cap
sender
three very large mounting brackets and straps
all breather pipes and crossover pipes

one 150 lt bespoke tank
filler neck
lockable cap
two very large mounting brackets
breather pipes and crossover pipes

all the bolts required to mount them

all powder coated inc brackets and straps etc

delivered to the other end of the country on time

total for both tanks, parts, painting and delivery £900.00 unc vat

Cant see you would get much cheaper than that ,

nickyu wrote:Only think I can think is your bespoke tanks were not oddly shaped? If not, the pattern for those would be fairly straight forward. Mine were the furthest from a regular cuboid and I supplied the CAD and they used the laser cutter to cut the pattern. I offered this to metallicsuk, but it didn't seem to make any difference. Maybe they don't have a laser cutter? I couldn't say.

Of course my lockers did NOT come on time. They were months late and yes I was frustrated, but as a commoner I have to wait for the cheaper prices.

Our box was reasonably priced and it was ready on time. I picked it up at his workshop and they mounted it for me. Richard is a great guy, but not a CAD engineer ;-) . He likes to draw the projects by hand with a pencil in his order book. I think he gives his stuff away if laser cutting is involved, he certainly has none in his workshop!

My lockers were £300 each.

Nick your lockers and tanks sound a bit posh to me and from a different end of the budget from us common folk . LOL.
