Forum and site Rebuild

Postby stan » Mon Sep 01, 2014 7:07 pm

Hello everyone
sorry i dont get on here more, glad you are all still here !
sorry about the spam , ive posted there too..

we need to rebuild he forum and move it to a new company, we also need to rebuild the whole site as its now old and starting to have problems, like the trucks ending up in the trips !

i am waiting for quotes to do this, as the origional company is no longer about.
the origional website build cost me a lot of money, it was a long term investment at the time, with the intention to get revenue back from advertisers to cover my costs.
this has never really happened, i got a bit in the early days, but havent pushed it and dont get any enquiries. the idea was that the business directory became a central source for overlanders and then businesses would want to be in it, likewise with the banners on the header.
anyway its never really paid, partly my fault as my day job takes most of my time!
so the big question is in order to redo the forum at the very least are you good people, as members be willing to contribute??
a big ask i know, but other forums have different levels of membership, with some having a subscription.
so any thoughts on a subscription with a few benefits?

the other intention with the main site is to rebuild it with a slight change of focus, it has always been intended as a resource, as my idea came from trawling the internet looking for info on different vehicle set ups and companies involved in overlanding, so it became a reality, however i now intend to be part of that group and add a webshop to the site to help fund the rebuild and get some of the origional outlay back !
we have t shirts and hoodies at the moment but i am sourcing suppliers of kit i would use, we already supply roof tents, and are trying to source other overlanding kit -so watch this space!

so a lot to get on with and as ever feedback welcomed!

thanks
stan

Hi Stan! Bold moves and a lot of graft in the pipeline then. All sounds good to me. Speaking personally, I'd be happy to shell out for a membership if it'd keep the site open & help make it the profitable venture it deserves to be. It's been the single most useful resource I've had for my build to date & to my mind that's well worth paying a subscription for. Not to mention the amazing community we've got going here. What's good for the site as a business can only benefit us on a community level I think.

Reading what you have to say, these are clearly exciting times for the site in a lot of ways. I look forward to seeing things start to roll & wish you all the very best in your endeavours!

As above. I'm willing to pay (a reasonable) fee to keep the site going.

Yeah me too. Not been here long but feel like the site engine is struggling, I would contribute to re invigorate it.

Hope so - had around 90 fake accounts appear in one 24 hour period a few days ago

Hi San and members,

I feel a bit late here as I have only just been pointed to this posting! Sorry about that, I really must got around a bit more!

I echo other members sentiments in that a subscription would be money very well spent, a massive source of information for me.

Thank you for the opportunity to be a member.

All the best,

Brian.
