I'd agree with Steff, if you continue to use it, or continue to post, these are the new rules

Does anyone anticipate a problem with that?

On another forum I belong to, the posts are left and the name is shown as "deleted member" which protects everybody....

Running two accounts from the same user? Surely nobody would do that would they? ;)

Good solution, like that.

However the slightly naughty side of me thinks that their avatar should be changed to something interesting. ( only kidding ) but I do like the deleted member title.

sorry guys, I can't agree that the two guys who have left were, in anyway, Trolls. They both had some good and valid advice and engineering "work arounds". The only problem is neither seemed capable of taking on board other views and then things got unpleasant. It's a shame their post have gone as there were some very good ideas demonstrated.

Picking up on Jon's point but most definitely not aimed in any way at Jon.

I suppose it's timely to add a personal observation that no one should underestimate what it's like to be scrutinised and undermined constantly, especially in a malicious way that's intended to cause personal upset, offence and humiliation.

I think this is one of those things where if you aren't the one being constantly harrassed - bullied even - then it's hard to see what all the fuss is about. It's easy to see this kind of stuff as melodramatic, but when it's happening to you it's absolutely awful.

I don't honestly know at which point the abuse of a forum in the pursuit of a personal agenda to discredit someone becomes trolling but I'd say that if - having supposedly resigned - someone then creates new and multiple user-profiles and immediately begins the disruptive process all over again, then that's a pretty good reflection of character.

It's one thing to dislike somebody, it's something entirely different to take that to the next level and to embark on a sustained and collaborative effort to try to publicly ridicule and humiliate them.

Whatever this unpleasant behaviour is called I know that no one should have a stomach-churning feeling of absolute dread every time they log on to a forum that's supposed to be about mutual help.

Anyway, I'm conscious the resignees are not here to defend themselves so that's me done.

When formulating the new terms and conditions.I do think that if someone wants to leave the forum and selfishly cause mahem to existing posts and mess things up for the remaining members and future readers, then they shouldn't be able to rejoin and start posting again the next day under one or two new names as though nothing has happened.

Maybe this can be factored in to the new terms and conditions

Neil
