Truck to Heathrow

Postby bromleyxphil » Mon May 14, 2018 7:56 am

Sorry to re post this but it may get lost in the other thread and I could do with some advice.
“My daughter is flying from Heathrow on the day I head down to the tunnel. Saturday 26th June. Bearing in mind “smoke zone” access, extra time and extra mileage, how can we best achieve this. Do I take her there? Do I drop her at a station? Those on here with “the knowledge”. HELP”

Unfortunately Heathrow is in the Low Emission Zone, so if your truck is not compliant or exempt you will definitely want to avoid driving there.

You can check here:

Heathrow is extremely easy to get to from inside London, but much harder from outside London. There are a few busses from Slough to the airport, which one you get depends on the terminal she flies from. First Group run route 7 from Slough to terminals 2, 3 and 5, would that work? You should have no trouble dropping her off in the truck at Slough Queensmere shopping centre, although the bus can take an hour from there. You might be able to find somewhere further down the route to drop her off.

Hope this helps,

Nick

Hi Phil,

A 4 month old son is making planning longer trips difficult! We plan to do a couple of local trips in the next few months to gauge whether we can use 4 weeks we have booked off work in September to tour round Spain.

If the Spain trip happens and works, it'll decide whether or not Jim is suitable as a 3 person home for a much longer trip I'd like to do before my son has to go to school.

Cheers Nick and congratulations on the start of your family. 30 years hard labour ahead but I would do it all again if I could. Enjoy every minute......they don’t come twice!
