The interior looks nice, but I think it's rather dark.
I hope at least the ceiling is white.

I'd be interested in knowing the overall cost of the project if you wouldn't mind sharing that info?

After trying out (probably scotland), would like to go to Norway/Sweden.

Darkness is more due to photos, it isnt to bad really, although i kept away from rooflights as they always seem to leak sooner or later even on pro campers. The roof is one piece 3 mm chequer plate 5m by 2.4m so is solid with no chance of leaks.

Cost will probably be around 30k by time its finished including truck but not including labour as i di all the work myself except for welding and spraying. But if i did it again i probably save around 25% due to better and cheaper materials and kit suppliers, and the fact i spent around 2k on stuff i never used. As well as countless hours researching on the net.

Off road practice
written by Tony Evans, September 18, 2011
Hi Guys,
Just a quick note to gauge any interest or ideas on how to organise some off road practice with our Leyland Daf 145 campers.
We have had our camper for 2 months and completed 2000miles of mostly road trips. I would like some practice off roading but we are struggling to find a suitable venue. Iv approached a few 4x4 friends but they are concerned that the weight/size of my truck would be a problem to recover if I got stuck.
I thought it might work to organise a gathering of similar vehicles to practice in the rough and also share experiences - ideas on our vehicles.
Let me know if there is any interest or ideas of where/when we could meet.

Somewhere to meet up
written by John Provan, October 04, 2011
Hi Tony,
Don't know if you recieved my email re the Hampshire site?
Must be somewhere between Essex and Gloucestershire that we can meet up, even if it's a weekend campsite or something. I'm sure there are a few menbers out there that would like to compare notes on their vehicles.

Offroading
written by Christian, October 04, 2011
When I wrote it looked dark, I thought about the colors of the interiour.
Lighter walls (and furnitures) will give much more light inside.

You might practice easy off-roading in Norway if you want to.
A few times every year an ex-military wehicle organisation (hmkf.no) have a meating at Trandum.
That's Norways biggest sand-box, located just north of Gardermoen airport.
This years dates: 10.06-13.06 and 09.09-11.09
The area consist of only sand and threes, and a few buildings.
Thus it's hard to damage the vehicle unless you tilt over or crash.
The biggest problem might in fact be to find the way out, a GPS might be handy.

I think this could be a nice place if you want some easy offroading.
Just watch the forum for dates.

Engine power
written by Christian, October 06, 2011
I don't know the DAF, but due to age I've a suspicion that the radiator fan is directly driven by the engine.
If that's the case, you can simply replace it with an electrial fan.
Then the engines rpm will be more volatile, since it doesn't have to accelerate the fan.
Be sure to get a fan which is big and powerful enough.
The bast is to put it on the rear side of the radiator, since it's affect/blocking of the airstream then will be less.
