Five Quick Questions

Best Gadget

Iphone to tether laptop for internet almost everywhere!

Best Space Saver

Stacking saucepan set and frying pan with folding handle.

Can't do without...

Small inverter to charge batteries etc.

Trips Planned

Finish round the world trip, across the US and down through South America, but not yet!

Dream Vehicle

This is pretty close. If shipping was not an issue would have solid roof rather than pop top, but this slips into a standard 20 ft container, which makes shipping relatively inexpensive.

Troopy Travels

Land Cruiser 78 series Kea Conquerer (2006 190,000 km)

Troopytracks - Devon UK to Malaysia (www.troopytracks.com)

We have just completed a 6 month trip to Malaysia from the UK travelling through France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Mongolia, China, Laos, Thailand and finally Malaysia.

We travelled in an ex hire Kea Conquerer Land Cruiser 78 series camper with a few mods and a bit of preventative maintenance (as it had already covered 165,000 km). We covered a distance of 26500km with only one puncture and a faulty seal on the non standard ARB diff lockers.

We posted every day (with several pictures) on the website, and tried to cover border crossing detail and other issues related to overlanding. Detailed section on vehicle selection. Hope it helps .... let me know as contact details are on the website.

What made you choose this one?
Great reputation for reliability, fits into a shipping container and no need for tents or trailers.

Main criteria for this project?
Reliability, with internal sleeping arrangement.

Modifications undertaken?
Air lockers by ARB, ARB side awning with mozzie net, extra battery capacity 210Ahr, rear storage box on door, special rear bumper, front bull bar but no winch.

Modifications yet to do?
Internal space heater for Mongolia ... Brrrrrr

How does it perform?
Hard to fault

What would you do differently?
Probably stick with standard limited slip diff and forget the lockers. Maybe just fit to front.
