Land rover 2B FC (1972)
by jim made this

Land rover 2B forward control highly modifyed body. Was originaly a cherry picker i then fitted a marshal ambulance body and am currently fitting interior out...

What made you choose this one?
I choose the land rover forward control 2B because of its simplicity and ease of getting parts as most are the same as any series land rover. The size played a big part in choice due to storage and building the back body.

Main criteria for this project?
A camper that has 4x4 and can be used all year round hot cold wet etc... not fused about huge interior space as long as ther is enough to cook eat sleep and rest comfortably, use a vehical base that is cheap to maintain with easy to get parts.

Modifications undertaken?
lots of modifcations basicaly started with a complete strip down and chassie up build with new suspension and the addition of one and a half marshal ambi bodys.

Modifications yet to do?
Still have to finish the interior and refit the solar panels water pumps etc its on going but should be finished for this summer......

How does it perform?
Have been useing it for 7 years now and have just recently changed the body design again, to give a bit extra room, its great in any weather hot cold wet etc, as it is well insulated, with two 1500 watt propex heaters, it preforms ok the engine is getting tired and will be changed for a new more upto date one next winter that will run on LPG together with a new gearing for longer trips.

What would you do differently?
Would have probably spent more time at the start planning but saying that it will and has evolved over time and has worked fine so far..
